Responsible for the design, cost estimation, and planning of wood product facility engineering projects, with occasional consultation with senior engineering staff. Responsibilities include proper interpretation and implementation of Boise Cascade design/drafting standards, along with meeting applicable industry codes and standards. Using good engineering practices, the engineer will act as project engineer on smaller projects and support the project manager by providing appropriate designs, calculations, cost estimates, and installation schedules.
This position is also responsible for environmental compliance for the Thorsby location. Provide guidance and advice to corporate and manufacturing staff regarding company environmental control policy and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and operating permits. Identify environmental permitting needs and take necessary action to secure the required permits. Collect data, measurements and samples for technical and environmental monitoring purposes.
Basic Qualifications: Prefer a Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline with Mechanical preferred. Require knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database computer programs. Knowledgeable in reading and interpreting drawings and blueprints, to include use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Fully competent engineer in all aspects of functional areas of assignment. Require a minimum of 3 – 5 years experience in the Wood Products or related industry. Require completed Engineer-in-Training certification and working towards Professional Engineers license.
