Overview

Boise Cascade is seeking Forklift Operator candidates at our engineered wood products facility in Roxboro, NC. This position is an entry-level production position with opportunities for advancement as openings occur, and may support either the Shipping Department or Production Area. Forklift Operators are responsible for supporting the production team and the movement of material and product throughout the site. In addition, operators will play a vital role in maintaining a safe work environment for all employees through proper housekeeping and equipment operation. Operators must demonstrate initiative, and work as a team to support the long-term quality and production goals of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures while reporting potential safety hazards
  • Perform housekeeping functions to aid in keeping lifts and machinery functioning properly, to reduce hazards and maintain the appearance of the plant
  • Unloading rail cars
  • Moving raw materials for daily production
  • Moving product bundles, and keeping work areas organized
  • Following proper stacking procedures.
  • Loading trucks for shipment.
  • Contribute to a team environment by cross-training and filling in for operators during absences.
  • Demonstrate initiative, a sense of urgency, and the ability to work on a team.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least 18 years of age
  • At least one (1) year of experience in manufacturing, farming, agriculture, landscaping, carpentry, mechanical, construction, warehouse, or military environment
  • At least one (1) year of experience operating a forklift.
  • Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation functions
  • Willing and able to work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed
  • Willing and able to work a (12)-hour shift
  • Willing and able to work in a hot, cold, dusty, and noisy industrial environment
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations.
  • Willing and able to wear safety equipment, i.e.: safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, and other PPE as required by specific jobs
  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting (up to 45 lbs.), walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Forklift Certification
  • Experience working as a machine operator in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in lumber or wood products
  • Experience troubleshooting equipment in a manufacturing environment
